Excellent question! The MSU Office for Community Involvement (OCI) posts volunteer opportunities on its website. Also, if you would like more detailed information on volunteer opportunities feel free to stop by the OCI at 330 Culbertson Hall or 237 Strand Union Building. At either location the friendly staff will be more than happy to find a volunteer opportunity that fits your schedule and interests.
I already volunteer. Can I still be a part of 10K?
Absolutely! Follow the steps on our Register page to record your hours with Volunteer Connections. If the non-profit you volunteer with is not listed on Volunteer Connections you may still record your hours.

What counts as volunteer service?
Any service committed to nonprofits or government entities, schools, faith-based organizations, or neighborhood associations is considered acceptable service. However…here are a few other things to keep in mind while volunteering.
1. Participating in political activities is not accepted except in cases of non-partisan voter registration efforts.
2. Participating with religious organizations is accepted for the purpose of community service such as food distribution, etc. to populations external to the church, providing service is not restricted to a specific religion.
How can student groups participate?
We encourage student groups who already volunteer or who are looking to volunteer to participate in 10K. Please view or student group information toolkit to find out how you can get involved.
How many volunteer hours are required and what happens if I don't complete the required service amount?
To enjoy the 10K concert, we ask that as a volunteer you complete a minimum of 10 hours. If you are unable to reach this 10 hour goal, we hope you appreciated your volunteer experience, but you are not eligible for the 10K concert.
I've completed my volunteer hours, now what?
The most important step after having completed your volunteer commitment is to record your service using the tools provided by Volunteer Connections or the 10K time log. In April 2010, 10K will contact you with instructions for recieving your concert ticket.
Can I help with 10K?
We'd love your help! 10K is brought to you by the Student United Way. Visit one of our meetings on Wednesdays, 7pm, SUB 230. Hope to see you there!
